3 Healthy Smoothie Recipes for Summer

Along with summer comes heat, which can put a damper on your fitness goals if you like to workout outside. Try these summer-inspired smoothie recipes to cool off after a workout and get the protein and antioxidants you need for recovery and health benefits.

Vanilla Peach Protein Coconut Smoothie

Serves: 2 servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup full-fat coconut milk, chilled
  • 2 scoops vanilla whey protein
  • 1 cup ice
  • 2 large fresh peaches, peeled and cut into chunks
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh lemon zest

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add coconut milk, protein powder, ice and peaches to blender.
  2. Using a microplane, add a few gratings of fresh lemon zest and vanilla extract to taste.
  3. Blend on high speed until smooth.

Green-Apple Smoothie

Serves: 2 servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 2/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 2 large hand-fulls (~50 grams) kale ~the leaves of about 8 stalks
  • 1/3 cup (~80 grams) pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 (~50 grams) ripe avocado
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup ice cubes

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Put all ingredients into a blender and puree until smooth

Very Berry Smoothie

INGREDIENTS

  • 1½ cup chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • ½ cup raspberries
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup ice cubes

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Put all ingredients into a blender and puree until smooth
