Healthy Football Sunday Snacks
Football season is here, and for many that means high-calorie snack packed Sundays. So unless you want to be the size of a linebacker, swap out those deep fried chicken wings and greasy potato chips for these healthier, diet-friendly options!
1. Baked Ezekiel Chips & Guacamole
Admit it, you can’t ever just eat one potato chip. Unfortunately, one too many handfuls of chips (each loaded up with creamy ranch dip) can be deadly when watching your figure. Try these homemade ezekiel chips & pair it with a bowl of fresh guacamole.
How to make them: At your local farmers market grab a bag of Ezekiel sprouted tortillas. Cut the tortillas into triangles, place on a baking sheet and bake them at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes (or until crisp).
2. Deviled Eggs
Deviled eggs are always a hit. They are super easy to make and they’re packed with flavor and protein. Cut back on the fat by using only half the yolks. Combine with plain, non-fat greek yogurt, diced onions, paprika and a little bit of sriracha hot sauce for a spicy-kick!
3. Grilled Chicken & Veggie Skewers
Everyone loves a shish-kabob! Rather than filling up on deep-fried, greasy hot wings…grill up some skewers with your favorite fresh veggies & meats.
4. Air-Popped Popcorn
Popcorn can actually be a relatively healthy snack — if it’s not from the movie theatre or saturated with butter & salt.
Rather than filling up a bowl with cheetos or cheez-its, pop your own popcorn at home with a little olive oil and lightly sprinkle it with sea salt & cracked pepper.
5. Tomato & Green Olive Salsa
Sorry Tostitos, your salsa has nothin’ on this zesty blend of tomatoes & olives! Dip pita chips or homemade ezekiel chips in this hot pepper relish.
