5 Tips on How to Maintain Your New Year’s Resolution

5 Tips on How to Maintain Your New Year's ResolutionNew Years is a symbol of new beginnings. During this festive day, people are busy preparing sumptuous meals and serving delicious alcoholic drinks. But do you know what else they’re fond of doing? It’s the famous New Year’s resolutions.

Every year, you write resolutions but tend to break it after a few weeks or months. Hence, at the end of the year when you re-evaluate your list to see what you have accomplished, you will realize that you have achieved none.

So, why do you fail to achieve your goals? There are many factors why the writing and breaking of resolutions become a cycle. But, it doesn’t mean that you can’t combat these factors. To help you change your ways and finally succeed in sticking with your resolutions, here are the five tips on how you can maintain your New Year’s Resolution.

How to Maintain Your New Year’s Resolution

Set realistic and attainable goals
Sometimes when you get overly excited with writing the things that you want to accomplish during the year, you tend to list too many goals and set a very short deadline up to the point that it becomes unrealistic. Remember that you need to take things slow, and you need to write realistic and attainable goals. For example, if you want to lose a generous amount of weight, do not set a month period for it to be accomplished. If you have been carrying that weight for many years, it’s impossible to lose it in just a month.

Focus on a certain goal and take a step further
Start being productive as soon as you finish writing your goals. When the clock hits 12, you need to begin doing something to improve yourself and your habits. It can be simple gestures like avoiding sweets and junks to lose weight, or avoiding unhealthy food to improve your health. You need to focus on a certain goal and never tackle too many resolutions at one time.

Take an inspiration from your favorite celebrities
A great way to be motivated is by taking an inspiration from your favorite fit celebrity. You can search online for the best way to achieve a Jessica Alba body or a Jenifer Aniston abs. It will help you be more determined to achieve your goal. However, keep in mind that these celebrities may have special diets or personal trainers to maintain their weight. Therefore, you don’t need to be pressured or feel desperate to have a figure such as theirs.

Practice discipline at all times
Like what most experts say, it takes a lot of patience and discipline in order to reach your goal. You need to do whatever it takes to stick with your resolution. Note that being disciplined is the ONLY way to achieve all your goals. When you feel tempted to ditch your resolution always think of the good things that you can get when you succeed, it will surely help you get back on track.

Reward yourself
Take the time to acknowledge your achievements and compliance with your goals. Give yourself a small reward when you achieve each milestone. Maybe it’s a facial after your first 5kg or a new dress when for every dress size you drop. Small rewards make your goals more fun and add that element of motivation as well.
