The Workout Plan That Zach Galifianakis Followed to Shed Major Weight

We all know Zach Galifianakis as being funnier overweight actor from movies like The Hangover, but he’s recently lost a significant amount of weight by starting an exercise regimen and cleaning up his diet.  Zach first decided to start living a healthier lifestyle by cutting out alcohol and consuming healthier alternatives to his traditional diet. Zach was sick of feeling tired and sluggish so he began to consume better foods to increase his energy levels and overall health. This meant he had to cut out pizza and dessert and swap it for fresh fish, chicken, egg whites, fruits and vegetables.

Zach is constantly busy with acting projects and traveling, so he needed a workout plan that would be quick and high-intensity so that he could achieve results while on the road. The following workout schedule inspired the workout program that allowed Zach to drop over 50 pounds in just six months.

Monday:

Walk for 30 minutes on an incline treadmill at 3.0mph and a 10% incline.

Circuit

Perform 4 sets 30 secs each exercise. 60 secs rest after completing the entire circuit.

  1. Kettlebell Goblet Squats
  2. TRX Chest Press
  3. TRX Rows
  4. Barbell Military Press
  5. Walking Lunges

Tuesday

Do 30 minutes on the elliptical machine at moderate-intensity.

Wednesday

Perform 4 sets of each exercise for 30 seconds and rest for 60 seconds after completing the entire circuit.

  1. Jumping Jacks
  2. Bear Crawls
  3. Battling Rope Slams
  4. Bodyweight Squats
  5. Medicine Ball Slam

Thursday

Do 30 minutes of a moderate-intensity outdoor bike ride.

Friday

Do a 15-30 minute light jog outside or on the treadmill.

Circuit

Do 4 sets of each exercise for 30 seconds with 60 seconds of rest after completing the entire circuit.

  1. Barbell Deadlift
  2. Lat Pulldown Machine
  3. Pushups
  4. Low Row Machine
  5. Back Extension

Zach’s biggest piece of advice is that you must be consistent if you want to see results. Exercise and the gym doesn’t need to be painful – just find some types of exercise that you like and focus on eating healthy and staying active to achieve results. A healthy lifestyle change must be incorporated permanently into your life rather than binging on exercise for short periods of time, only to relapse back to the mistakes that made you gain weight in the first place.
